Job Summary
The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and other associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.
Responsibilities- Support and assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in the delivery of quality veterinary care.
- Help maintain the flow of patients throughout the hospital.
- Communicate with the veterinarian and veterinary technicians regarding patient status and care.
- Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance.
- Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe, and keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and laboratories clean and organized.
- Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care.
- Mentor other members of the hospital team.
Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A high‑school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Preferred ExperienceAbility to perform all required skills of NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant programs at a level that aids in the efficiency of the practice.
Day in the LifeThe Veterinary Assistant provides professional, efficient, and exceptional service at all times, ensuring clients and pets are comfortable in the hospital. The role involves daily use of technical skills within state practice acts and as outlined in NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant skills and duties.

The pay range for this role is $15.19 – $19.41 hourly. The range reflects a general hiring range for the area, with the specific rate determined based on the candidate’s experience, skill level, and education, and may vary depending on location or applicable minimum wage laws.
