Part-Time Safety and Security Officer

The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for providing security and safety services and protecting the life and well‑being of students, staff, and visitors at Indian Rocks Church and Christian School. The position is part‑time with a special emphasis on nights, weekends, and special events, and is carried out under the general direction of a supervisor while allowing a high degree of independence and proactive security management.

• Provide a visible security presence across the campus, ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors at all times.
• Respond immediately to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and other critical incidents.
• Monitor security systems, conduct regular patrols of the premises, and inspect for potential hazards or security threats.
• Maintain accurate logs of security incidents, observations, and relevant activities, ensuring all reports are timely and complete.
• Apply de‑escalation techniques when necessary, addressing situations tactfully and professionally.
• Enforce safety protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain a secure campus environment.
• Work closely with school and church leadership to ensure the safety of the entire community and assist with ongoing safety planning and improvements.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating potential security risks or hazards on campus.
• Collaborate with all levels of management, support staff, personnel, church leaders, volunteers, members, and guests to fulfill the mission of Indian Rocks.

• Prior law enforcement background preferred.
• Ability to attend the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Guardianship program.
• Florida D and G licensing, or the ability to obtain it.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Pass background screening.
• Physically and mentally prepared to respond to emergencies.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Prioritize, develop, and communicate realistic action plans.
• Delegate work assignments and oversee timelines and progress.
• Communicate effectively through written and verbal direction.
• Cultivate an ongoing cooperative relationship between church, school, membership, and community.
• Demonstrate a consistent Christian lifestyle as referenced by the Mission Statement of Indian Rocks, the Statement of Faith of Indian Rocks, and the Leadership Guidelines of Indian Rocks.
• Be an active member of Indian Rocks, including regular attendance in worship services, participation in an Indian Rocks Connection Group or Small Group, and commitment to systematic stewardship and faithful tithing.
