Job Description & How to Apply Below

Not every mechanic works on equipment that protects an entire community.

If your ideal office includes boats instead of cubicles, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has a career waiting for you.

We're looking for motivated, skilled mechanics who want more than just another repair shop. As a Marine Technician I , you'll play a critical role in keeping our Marine & Environmental Lands Unit mission-ready by maintaining the vessels and equipment our deputies rely on every day to protect the citizens and visitors of Pinellas County. You'll inspect, repair, maintain, and service law enforcement vessels, trailers, outboard motors, generators, and specialized equipment that support marine patrol operations throughout Pinellas County.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving mechanical problems, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is eager to expand their knowledge of marine systems and equipment. They are safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to interpret technical manuals, utilize diagnostic equipment, and maintain accurate maintenance records.

If you enjoy working with your hands, solving complex mechanical problems, and knowing your work makes a difference every day, this is more than a mechanic's position—it's an opportunity to become part of a team dedicated to serving one of Florida's largest communities. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, participation in the Florida Retirement System, paid leave, and a competitive salary.

Join the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and help keep our Marine & Environmental Lands Unit mission ready. Every repair supports the deputies who answer the call when our community needs them most.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts, 0800–1700; however, the schedule is subject to change.

Consideration given for relevant experience.

The background investigation process may take up to 6 weeks depending upon the complexity of the applicant's background and position for which they've applied.

Applicants must be tobacco/nicotine free during length of employment.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is an EEO/ADA employer and is committed to being a drug free workplace.
