Substitute Teacher
Under the direction of the site administrator, a substitute teacher will provide vital classroom coverage to ensure continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. This role requires flexibility, classroom management skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to different learning environments while supporting students' educational goals.
Registration as a substitute teacher with the Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) is required before applying with Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD). The District will not accept substitutes not actively registered with MCOE. This process involves:
Live Scan Fingerprinting; TB Test;
Mandated Reporter Trainings; A valid teaching credential or sub permit. Once active status with MCOE is verified and an application has been submitted with TUHSD, the applicant's work history will be verified per AB 2534. When all requirements are completed, you will be notified and added to the District's Master Sub List and Frontline system. Upon securing your first substitute position within TUHSD, a sub packet with standard tax documents will be provided to process compensation.
Additional desired qualifications:
Previous experience with teaching or classroom support;
Familiarity with Canvas and/or Synergy Learning Management Systems.
Current substitutes need not apply. If you are reactivating your sub status, you need to apply per AB 2534. More information can be found on TUHSD's sub page.
