This is a part‑time, on‑site role based in Larkspur, CA, for an Assistant Manager. Responsibilities include overseeing daily food service operations, ensuring food safety compliance, and managing food preparation processes. You will lead and train team members, maintain exceptional customer service standards, and contribute to the overall success of The Shack's welcoming atmosphere by fostering positive customer experiences and ensuring operational efficiency.
We’re building a shop that runs smoothly without constant owner presence. This role is key to making that happen. You won’t be here every day, but when you are, you matter. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, not just shifts.
Qualifications- Experience in Food Service Operations and managing food service teams effectively
- Knowledge of Food Preparation and Food Service best practices
- Strong understanding of Food Safety regulations and standards
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional Customer Service
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Flexible schedule with availability on weekends for part‑time, on‑site work
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferred
- Aged 18+
- Create and manage weekly staff schedules
- Coordinate shift swaps and coverage when team members call out
- Step in to cover shifts when needed (within agreed hours)
- Communicate schedule changes clearly and promptly
- Conduct weekly ice cream inventory and place orders accordingly
- Track and order shop supplies (cups, cones, toppings, napkins, etc.)
- Monitor usage trends and flag shortages before they become problems
- Maintain organized storage and FIFO practices
- Lead by example during shifts
- Hold staff to standards for cleanliness, efficiency, and customer service
- Address minor performance issues professionally and promptly
- Escalate larger concerns to the owner with clear context
- Prepare and complete cash deposits accurately
- Ensure POS and cash drawer procedures are followed
- Assist with onboarding and training new hires
- Reinforce shop systems, workflows, and expectations
- Support the hiring process as needed (interviews, trial shifts)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming shop environment
- Ensure consistency in product quality and presentation
- Deliver warm, friendly, efficient customer service—always
- 12 – 16 hrs / week
- $25 – $30 / hr
- Reliable, dependable, and punctual (non‑negotiable)
- Trustworthy with keys, cash, and people
- Comfortable managing and motivating a team
