Assistant Manager

The Shack is growing, and we’re looking for dependable, friendly people, including a part-time Assistant Manager to join our team.

12–16 hrs/week | Team leadership, scheduling & inventory | $25–$30/hr

Core Responsibilities

Scheduling & Coverage

• Create and manage weekly staff schedules
• Coordinate shift swaps and coverage when team members call out
• Step in to cover shifts when needed (within agreed hours)
• Communicate schedule changes clearly and promptly

Inventory & Ordering

• Conduct weekly ice cream inventory and place orders accordingly
• Track and order shop supplies (cups, cones, toppings, napkins, etc.)
• Monitor usage trends and flag shortages before they become problems
• Maintain organized storage and FIFO practices

Employee Management

• Lead by example during shifts
• Hold staff to standards for cleanliness, efficiency, and customer service
• Address minor performance issues professionally and promptly
• Escalate larger concerns to the owner with clear context
• Prepare and complete cash deposits accurately
• Ensure POS and cash drawer procedures are followed

Training & Hiring Support

• Assist with onboarding and training new hires
• Reinforce shop systems, workflows, and expectations
• Support the hiring process as needed (interviews, trial shifts)

Shop Standards

• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming shop environment
• Ensure consistency in product quality and presentation
• Deliver warm, friendly, efficient customer service—always
