Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Clerk to join a government agency within the Health and Human Services Department in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This is a long-term contract role that offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial and administrative operations of the department. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and skilled in managing budgets, records, and scheduling tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Provide direct support to the department director, assisting with administrative and financial tasks.

- Oversee the department calendar, managing appointments and scheduling meetings effectively.

- Maintain accurate records and organize files to ensure seamless access to departmental information.

- Review and analyze reports to identify discrepancies or areas requiring attention.

- Act as a liaison on budget matters, offering insights and guidance to ensure financial accuracy.

- Prepare detailed budgets and monitor monthly revenue and expenses for the department.

- Track expenditures and revenues to ensure compliance with allocated budgets.

- Lead administrative support initiatives, coordinating efforts within the department's support pool. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent is required.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in administration, accounting, budgeting, or related support services.

- Strong proficiency in data entry and administrative assistance.

- Demonstrated ability to manage calendars and schedule appointments efficiently.

- Experience in preparing and monitoring budgets, including tracking annual revenue and accrued expenses.

- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively within the department.

- Ability to analyze financial reports and identify areas for improvement.
