The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Estimator to join Walbridge. In this role, you will coordinate full estimating service efforts for all Construction Specification Institute (CSI) divisions on large, complex work within Lump Sum, Design Build, and Construction Management contractual formats. You will interpret designs, drawings, specifications, and other contract documents, and be proficient across multiple delivery systems or specialize in one.
Location
You can be located on-site in our Detroit, Pittsburgh, or Charlotte office. Minimal travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Proposal Reviews: Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and estimate contents.
- Scope Development: Develop scope requirements, issue subcontracts for heavy industrial trades, write scopes of work, review subcontractor proposals, and negotiate final agreements.
- Cost Preparation: Prepare cost estimates and bid documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Strategic Planning: Identify competitive strategies, review contractual requirements, and develop action plans for estimates and projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field preferred; high school diploma with equivalent experience accepted.
- Minimum five years estimating or related construction management experience.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Strong organizational skills and experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Technical knowledge of construction and estimating processes.
- Experience in budget management, risk assessment, and resource allocation.
