We are seeking aHeavy Civil Estimator to join a growing and well-established construction team. This full-time role offers competitive pay, benefits, paid time off, and a stable workload, and involves estimating public and private projects including earthwork, utilities, paving, and roadway construction.
Responsibilities- Develop comprehensive construction estimates by reviewing plans, specifications, and project documents with clarity and attention to detail.
- Utilize estimating software such as Bid2
Win to prepare accurate cost projections and bid proposals. - Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs, analyze pricing data, and incorporate current market rates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers through effective negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
- Develop bid pricing, value engineering options, and alternates as necessary
- Assist in cost control efforts throughout the project lifecycle by monitoring budgets, tracking changes, and updating estimates as needed.
- Review construction contracts and scope of work documents to ensure alignment with project goals and budget constraints.
- Support project management teams by providing detailed estimations that facilitate scheduling, resource planning, and risk assessment.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and post-bid reviews
- Assist with budget handoff and project startup as needed
- 5+ years of estimating experience in
heavy civil construction - Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, utilities, asphalt, concrete, storm drain and roadway work
- Proficiency with estimating software and takeoff tools (e.g., Bid2
Win, Heavy Bid, HCSS, Bluebeam or Similar) - Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Familiarity with unit-price and lump-sum bidding
- Ability to work cohesively in a team environment
