Classification Summary

Plans, coordinates and supervises academic success programs for a college/community college undergraduate programs. Provides coordination and supervision for academic programs such as academic student advising, proficiency/evaluation testing, student admissions, financial aid, and/or student retention. May supervise special tutors for students with language barriers or students requiring remedial education. Serves as a liaison with academic administrators and faculty.

Classification Standard Duties

Supervise, direct, delegate, and evaluate work of assigned staff. Advise students, solve problems. May perform degree checks, degree plans. May assist or advise student preparation of Financial Appeals/Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals. Develop learning communities and strategies for student success. Develop method to identify at risk students. May develop and present training workshops. Perform related duties as required.

Required

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.;

Required Experience:

Three (3) years of professional experience related to the standard duties as outlined.;

Direct, evaluate, train, and supervise the work of assigned personnel; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities; analyze and evaluate information.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

This federally funded position is comprised of recruiting, onboarding, and providing year-round TRIO Upward Bound educational services to motivate first-generation, economically disadvantaged, and academically high-risk students from the target high school in Otero County to complete secondary and post-secondary education. The position is responsible for enhancing the futures of high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the target area. The position is in charge of planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering several student support programs.

The diverse TRIO Upward Bound curriculum includes but is not limited to after school meetings at the target high school, Saturday Academic Sessions at NMSU, various Parent & Participant Workshops and Orientations, educational and cultural events, out-of-state College Regional Trips, summer programming that includes a six-week Summer Academy and a residential five-week Summer Bridge program that transitions participants from high school to New Mexico State University.
