Job Duties and Responsibilities.- Provide academic advising, and proactive assistance, to undergraduate students through multiple delivery mechanisms such as: in‑person appointments, phone, email, walk‑ins, group advising, group informational sessions, and orientation sessions.
- Advise exploratory students (including both unclassified students or those pursuing a meta‑major as well as any declared major who indicates the desire to explore other options). Become familiar with best practices in major exploration and career advising. Develop tools to assist students in the exploration process. Assist with the maintenance of meta‑major maps.
- Advise, and monitor the progress of, students on Academic Probation 1, Academic Probation 2, and students returning after Suspension.
- Advise, and monitor the progress of, student athletes. Review Athlete Progress Reports at the end of each term.
- Participate in campus‑wide welcome activities and events; including but not limited to, New Student Orientation and Crimson Kickoff. Review schedules after orientation for follow‑up based on changes to the student record such as application of advanced placement or transfer credits.
- Participate in campus‑wide retention and student success initiatives such as:
Quick Connect (early alert), Enrollment Calling Campaign, Early Performance Grade outreach, and CRM Advise. - Serve as the primary contact for the faculty advising liaisons connected to the team for which the individual is lead. Coordinate the upkeep of degree maps, individual student records, and both print and online academic advising tools.
- Contribute to the development of online tools and use of technology to enhance academic advising and overall office function.
- Participate in professional development opportunities contributing to the ongoing improvement of academic advising in the college.
- Serve as the chair or co‑chair of a committee within the Center for Academic Advising and Student Support. Participate in college and university committees as assigned by the Director.
Required
Education and Experience:
Associate's Degree + 7 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 5 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree. Previous College‑Level Academic Advising Experience.
Operating Conditions.Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. Requires handling of average‑weight objects up to 10 pounds.
