Academic Advisor Associate

NMSU is hiring an Academic Advisor Associate to provide academic advising and proactive assistance to undergraduate students through various delivery methods. The role involves advising students exploring majors and careers, participating in campus-wide orientation and retention initiatives, and contributing to the development of advising tools and professional growth within the student success division.

• Provide academic advising and support to undergraduate students via appointments, phone, email, group sessions, and orientation events.
• Advise exploratory students and assist with major and career exploration tools and meta-major map maintenance.
• Participate in new student orientation, retention initiatives, and student success programs like Quick Connect and Enrollment Calling Campaign.
• Maintain degree maps, student records, and online advising resources; contribute to technology enhancements in advising.
• Engage in professional development opportunities and serve on college and university committees.
• Required education:
  Associate's degree plus 2 years experience or Bachelor's degree;
  Master's degree and prior college advising preferred.
• Position classified as exempt, full-time with a salary of $43,908.80 annually.
• Work schedule is standard Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
• Typical office environment with minimal physical effort and lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Department: NMSU Center for Academic Advising and Student Support (CAASS), Student Success & Enrollment Management division.
