We are seeking experienced and motivated Project Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Project Managers to join our growing Water & Wastewater Infrastructure team in New Mexico.
This position offers the opportunity to lead meaningful public infrastructure projects that directly impact communities across the Southwest. Successful candidates will work closely with municipalities, utilities, and rural communities to deliver high-quality water and wastewater systems while serving as trusted technical advisors to clients.
We are particularly interested in professionals who enjoy independent responsibility, client interaction, technical problem-solving, and helping communities improve critical infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management & Leadership
- Manage assigned projects from planning through design and construction support
- Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and profitability
- Manage work-in-process, client invoicing, accounts receivable, and collection efforts
- Forecast workload and coordinate resources for assigned staff
- Serve as primary client contact for assigned projects
- Participate in business development, proposal preparation, and project scoping efforts
- Prepare and oversee engineering reports, studies, technical memoranda, specifications, plans, and construction documents
- Perform water and wastewater system design calculations
- Develop plans and specifications suitable for bidding and construction
- Conduct quality reviews and peer reviews of engineering deliverables
- Coordinate with CAD and design teams to produce project documents
- Utilize engineering software, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related design tools
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to municipal officials, utility operators, and non-technical stakeholders
- Attend client meetings and project presentations
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Support marketing and business development activities
- Conduct occasional site visits and construction observations
- Support implementation of upgrades and improvements at water treatment plants (WTPs) and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs)
- Assist with project scoping, equipment procurement, contractor coordination, and cost estimating
- Review permit requirements and support regulatory compliance efforts
- Apply asset management principles to infrastructure planning and maintenance programs
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel as needed, including occasional overnight travel
- Strong water and/or wastewater infrastructure design experience
- Experience preparing engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Understanding of project delivery processes and engineering design standards
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Strong technical writing skills, including reports, memos, letters, and client correspondence
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences
- Self-directed work style with strong time-management skills
- 5 8 years of water and wastewater engineering experience
- Experience serving municipal, public sector, utility, or rural infrastructure clients
- Water distribution and sewer collection system modeling experience
- Water treatment and wastewater treatment facility experience
- Client-facing project management experience
- Experience with public works funding programs and utility infrastructure planning
- Familiarity with New Mexico, the Southwest, or rural community infrastructure challenges
- Experience with asset management, compliance monitoring, and permitting processes
