Overview
TRC is seeking a Transmission Engineering I with an interest in engineering facilities from line extensions to major transmission additions for the firm’s Transmission Line Engineering practice. The role involves design and planning services for transmission and communication line projects, including experience up to 500 kV and fiber‑optic communications nationwide.

ResponsibilitiesAs a transmission engineer, you will lead design of new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic attachments under the supervision of a P.E.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development of material lists in Excel.
- Developing structure framing and detailing for poles (steel, wood, laminated wood).
- Coordinating environmental, licensing, and real‑estate constraints.
- Reading and interpreting project schedules to ensure timely completion.
- Developing plan and profile drawings under experienced guidance.
- Preparing complete design packages including work lists, construction staking tables, stringing sag charts, and specifications.
- Performing engineering calculations for safety and performance.
- Coordinating equipment delivery to meet construction schedules.
- Checking completed jobs for design and documentation adequacy.
Required:
- Accredited bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering.
- 0–2 years of transmission engineering experience.
- Preferably EIT‑certified with ability to become a professional engineer.
- Experience with Power Line and Structure modeling in PLS‑CADD (POLE, TOWER) and Excel; familiarity with MFAD or Lpile is a plus.
- Knowledge of ACI, ASCE Pole, AISC Steel manuals and NESC or similar codes is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Travel may be required.

CompensationSalary range: USD $63,000.00 – USD $97,000.00 per year, based on experience, education, location, and other factors.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus program tied to company, segment, and individual performance.
