why does the job exist?this position will determine proper classification of inmates, determine placement into eligible programming and inmate release preparation.

ideal candidateexperience in the following:
- assisting interdisciplinary teams in the evaluation of offenders
- participating in follow-up services and providing monitoring of offenders
- inmate classification process
- the reentry process
- application of good time laws
- monitoring activities using a tracking system
associate degree from an accredited college or university in guidance and counseling, penology, sociology, social work, psychology, criminal justice, family studies/services, criminology, or related field as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or experience in a correctional setting, records management, file auditing, case management, law enforcement, counseling, social work, government assistance programs, rehabilitative environment, working on health or social service-related matters, behavioral health, policy and/or statutory compliance totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required education.

this position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing.
working conditionswork is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
bargaining unit positionthis position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
