Position Details

Position Title: Counseling Psychologist

College/Division: Student Success & Enroll Management

Department: 520700-COUNSELING AND STU DEV CTR

Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States

Salary: $76,000 per annum

Appointment: Full-time, 1.0 FTE

Schedule: Standard (Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm)

Closing Date: March 25, 2026

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide culturally sensitive counseling, therapy, and psychotherapy to students with a broad range of social, developmental, and psychiatric concerns.

  • Prepare and collaboratively develop treatment plans, including termination and referrals.
  • Facilitate crisis and emergency interventions, supporting colleagues during crises.
  • Conduct psychodiagnostic assessments, including threat and safety evaluations.
  • Develop, present, and evaluate educational outreach programs and workshops for a diverse campus community.
  • Coordinate with university officials, external agencies, and advocacy organizations to enhance holistic care.
  • Supervise practicum and intern trainees as needed.
  • Lead programming addressing the unique challenges of Latinx, immigrant, first‑generation, and other underrepresented students.
Qualifications
  • PhD or PsyD in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.
  • Must be licensed as a psychologist in good standing in the State of New Mexico at the time of hire.
  • Strong commitment to inclusive practice and collaboration.
  • Experience with culturally responsive counseling and crisis intervention preferred.
