The Database Analyst is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle database environments, ensuring high availability and performance through proactive monitoring, indexing, and query optimization. The role includes cloning, exporting, and importing databases, schemas and software code repositories, executing backups and restore procedures, managing Banner ERP (Ellucian) upgrades and patches, maintaining database servers, administering ERP application servers such as Apache Tomcat, overseeing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), employing Oracle Enterprise Manager for performance monitoring and lifecycle management, creating and maintaining technical documentation, supporting data warehouse and ODS maintenance, troubleshooting database‑related incidents, and collaborating with IT teams and NMSU departments to align database solutions with institutional needs.
Required Qualifications- Associate‘s Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor‘s Degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship not available.
- Proficiency in Oracle Database 19c, including PL/SQL development.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms, preferably OCI, ASM, and Oracle Multi‑tenant.
- Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization, and data modeling.
- Experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Familiarity with backup/recovery strategies and disaster recovery planning.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Power Shell, or Bash for automation.
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
- Hands‑on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with Ellucian Banner modules and upgrade methodology.
- Experience with cloud database services on OCI, AWS RDS, or Azure SQL.
- Knowledge of ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
Indoor work environment with minimal physical effort required. Lifting up to 10 pounds is occasional. Exposure to potentially dangerous materials requires safety precautions.
