Interpreter - Prn

Responsibilities

Mesilla Valley Hospital is currently seeking a PRN Interpreter.

Responsible for listening to, understanding and translating spoken or written statements from Spanish to English and English to Spanish. Serves as part of the health care team to make communication possible across language barriers while maintaining patient confidentiality. Interpreter will translate a question or request clearly and accurately, conveying phrasing and intention as it relates to the subject. Convert dialogue and convey the intent of the original speaker, understanding that many idioms and slang terms do not translate exactly between languages.

Assist the patients with written and oral communication as needed. Submit translations to appropriate management for review as needed.

Education:
Required: High school diploma or GED. Interpreter certification.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in foreign language, business and or communications.

Experience:
Required: One year of customer service experience.
Preferred: One year of experience in a direct patient care role.

WORK HOURS: PRN employees must work four shifts per month, one shift must include a weekend.
