Assists patients to achieve or maintain their highest practicable level of ADL function through consistent, structured and controlled re-teaching and retraining techniques to promote increased participation in activities of daily living.

• Receives assignment from supervisor and performs duties in accordance with each patient’s detailed plan of care, providing care to patients who are presently receiving restorative ADL nursing interventions.
• Receives training from therapists and supervisors on the restorative techniques and performs techniques.
• Checks patients in section regularly; answers call lights promptly; follows through with patient problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to Supervisor depending upon level of ability and nature of patient need.
• Maintains knowledge of patient’s condition es significant changes in the condition of patients and takes appropriate action; identifies emergency situations and responds with appropriate measures.
• Explains procedures to patient before administering.
• Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, intake and output; reports patient incidents to immediate supervisor; communicates requests and problems to appropriate personnel; takes BPs upon request by Supervisor.
• Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.

• Successful completion of State Approved Nursing Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation Program; name must appear on State Registry as Nursing Assistant in good standing. Successful completion of restorative training. Ability to communicate with patients and nursing staff; ability to read and write, desirable.
• One-year experience as Nursing Assistant or Physical Therapist Assistant, preferred.
