As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant at our facility, you’ll be the cornerstone of psychiatric care for a unique and often underserved population. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting psychiatric evaluations and mental status exams
• Prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications in line with best practices
• Providing psycho educational counseling on medication and wellness
• Performing AIMS and metabolic assessments; reviewing and interpreting labs
• Diagnosing mental illness using DSM criteria and developing evidence-based treatment plans
• Initiating crisis interventions, including Crisis Watch placement and use of restraints per policy
• Supervising, guiding, and training healthcare staff involved in mental health service delivery
• Making clinical rounds across the infirmary, segregation units, and housing areas
• Ensuring medication compliance, continuity of care, and proper documentation
• Advocating for patient‑centered care in a secure, structured environment

• Graduate from an accredited NP or PA program
• Active unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in state of practice
• Active applicable Controlled Substance Registration/License/Certification in state of practice
• Active DEA license required
• Active CPR certification required
• Experience in psychiatric diagnosis and medication management (Correctional experience preferred)
• Strong clinical judgement, emotional resilience, and a patient-focused mindset
