Position: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) - Las Cruces, NM - 7 shifts per mo, travel / housing provided

National practice of Neonatologists and Pediatric Specialists is looking for an NNP to join a talented team in Las Cruces, NM.

This is not a locums role, it is perm/full‑time. Due to full‑time being seven 24‑hour shifts, a travel allowance for housing and flights will be provided if you do not live locally or want to relocate. Return to the same hospital time and again, working with the same group of co‑workers, building that rapport. You will have all the security of a full‑time role with the perks of travel!

Highlights
  • Unit Type:
    Level 3, 10 bed NICU with about 1,600 annual deliveries
  • Schedule:

    7 days a month is full‑time, and you typically work 12 or 24 hr. shifts. Shifts can be bundled to accommodate scheduling preferences
Responsibilities
  • Manage infants born at 32 weeks gestational age or later and weighing 1,500 grams or more
  • MFM support
  • Average census of 4-5
  • Plan to expand from 10 beds to 17-20 beds in the next year or two
  • MD and NNP both cover the NICU and nursery
  • Oversee convalescing infants after intensive care
  • Care for infants with moderate illness expected to resolve without requiring higher‑level care
  • Manage infants needing mechanical ventilation for less than 24 hours
  • Stabilize and transfer infants born less than 32 weeks gestational age and less than 1,500 grams
  • Care for infants with a gestational age of 34 6/7 weeks or younger
  • Provide care for low‑birth‑weight infants who are not ill but require more frequent feeding or extended nursing care
  • Deliver cardiopulmonary resuscitation and continuous cardiac monitoring as needed
  • Administer supplemental oxygen and intravenous fluids/antibiotics post‑transition period
  • Manage scheduled gavage feedings
  • Treat infants exposed to perinatal substance abuse, including neonatal abstinence scoring and pharmacologic treatment
  • Address any additional circumstances identified by the physician or APN that warrant NICU level care
Compensation

Salary negotiable but highly competitive with what locums are being paid.
