- Perform physical examinations and establish medical history to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Provide donor awareness regarding potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health and counseling regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Licensed Vocational Nurse, according to state requirements
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, precise coordinated finger, hand, and wrist movements
- Ability to squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels on rare occasion
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. lightly, with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Hearing acuity essential
- Correctable near and far vision requirements
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
Demonstrates expertise in performing physical examinations, evaluating donor suitability, and providing education on health and safety. Proficient in managing donor care and ensuring compliance with health regulations in a plasma center environment.
