- Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
- Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
- Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
- Inform donors about potential hazards
- Provide donor education regarding general health
- Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
- Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
- Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
- Assist in employee training
- Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
- Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- Current CPR certification required
- Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
- Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
- Frequent hand movement and ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
- Ability to make precise coordinated finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects
- Frequent foot movement; ability to squat, crouch, or sit on heels on rare occasions
- Ability to walk, bend, and twist at the waist
- Ability to lift 15 lbs. routinely, with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
- Ability to reach below shoulder height
- Essential hearing acuity
- Correctable color perception/discrimination, near vision, and far vision to specified levels
- Ability to communicate and understand spoken information
- Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
- Ability to perform a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
- Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
- Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office/laboratory equipment, and temperatures below 32°F
- Required use of personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold gear
Demonstrates expertise in performing physical examinations, evaluating donor suitability, and providing education on health and safety. Proficient in managing donor interactions and ensuring confidentiality while adhering to state licensing requirements.
