Target Pay Range/Rate: $23.830 per hour or $49,566.40 annually

The Third Judicial District Court in Las Cruces, New Mexico is recruiting for a full-time, classified Court Probation Officer 1 for the Treatment Court Programs. This is not a traditional probation officer position. Treatment Courts utilize a rehabilitative, treatment- focused approach that emphasizes accountability, recovery, and long-term success. This role focuses on case management, participant support, field visits, and collaboration with treatment providers while monitoring participants;

compliance with court orders. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to preparing reports, participating in multidisciplinary staffing meetings, and attending Treatment Court sessions to provide updates and recommendations. This position works a flexible 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts). Applicants should be aware that the schedule is fluid and changes from week to week based on court operations and participant needs.

There is no fixed weekly schedule and the position may require working days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Finalists will be subject to a criminal background check.

• The Court Probation Officer 1 is responsible for conducting investigations on defendants/offenders, establish needs, and develops appropriate treatment support plan.
• Participates in scheduled progress meetings at court-appointed locations.
• Monitors defendants/offender’s compliance at court hearings and with community service program requirements and tracks and records community service participation.
• Reports, documents, and notifies the court of defendants/offender’s compliance, non-compliance or program violations and recommends appropriate action.
• Maintains current case files, and documents all interactions with program defendants/offenders and treatment providers in the case management system.
• Performs scheduled and unannounced site visits (home, work, school or other location) to monitor program compliance.
• Monitors program compliance utilizing electronic monitoring technology.
• Tracks and administers drug and alcohol screens and maintains an alcohol and drug screening protocols, equipment and supplies.
• Participates in and attends conferences, training, community outreach and educational programs related to court programs.
• Prepares written and oral reports detailing defendants/offender’s program compliance and makes recommendations on future treatment support, or referrals.
• Provides input during court proceedings, and meetings with court staff and other treatment providers.
• Other duties as assigned.

The successful applicant should demonstrate knowledge of court-ordered rehabilitation or support programs, sentencing guidelines, treatment options and community services available;
New Mexico law, civil and criminal procedure; local court rules, policies and procedures, operations and structure; case management; legal terminology; substance abuse and mental health counseling and treatment; mediation techniques and conflict resolution; investigative techniques; drug screening methods; electronic monitoring equipment and technology; and court case management system.
