The Accounting Manager oversees daily accounting operations while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial records. This role partners closely with senior finance leadership to support financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, drive process improvements, and develop a high-performing accounting team. The position balances strategic insight with hands-on execution and plays a key leadership role within the Finance organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies; coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors as needed.
  • Oversee payroll-related accounting, including funding validation, tax reporting, and compliance with labor regulations.
Accounting Operations & Process Improvement
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Monitor compliance with federal and state reporting requirements and financial regulations.
  • Manage reconciliation of benefits and insurance-related invoices, including workers’ compensation and health plans.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Analyze financial trends and performance metrics to support strategic planning and business decisions.
Credit & Collections Oversight
  • Oversee customer credit documentation, including credit applications and evaluations.
  • Partner with the Accounts Receivable team to guide collections efforts and recommend strategies to resolve aging balances.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Maintain clear documentation, procedures, and internal controls across accounting processes.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance, and continuous-improvement culture within the team.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong expertise in general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage, coach, and develop accounting teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills with a data-driven mindset.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience with GAAP, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
  • CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours as business needs require.
