The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger management, and financial reporting. This position helps ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data used to drive operational and business decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries for monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and accruals.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal management reports.
- Review financial variances and trends, summarizing insights for leadership.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on schedule.
- Support inventory accounting activities, including physical counts and reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure complete and accurate financial information.
- Follow internal controls, accounting policies, and established procedures.
- Assist with audits, tax filings, and other compliance or regulatory reporting as needed.
- Contribute to special projects and additional assignments as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
- At least 2 years of accounting experience; experience in high-volume or complex operational environments preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems or ERP platforms such as Quick Books, Net Suite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Onsite, office-based position.
- Frequent collaboration with operational teams.
