Accounting Analyst

The Accounting Business Analyst supports the management, review, and analysis of utility-related contracts to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and accountability. This role applies foundational accounting and analytical skills to validate billing, monitor costs, and identify discrepancies, contributing to effective financial oversight and operational efficiency.

• Review utility service agreements and vendor contracts to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to established terms.
• Validate vendor invoices and payments against contract pricing, rates, and service provisions.
• Perform basic variance analysis to identify discrepancies between expected and actual costs.
• Prepare clear summaries and supporting documentation for internal financial reporting and review.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Improve productivity by supporting the automation of accounting processes and coordinating information requirements across teams.
• Prepare and record journal entries to support accurate financial reporting, including account reconciliations for assigned external customer accounts.
• Perform additional accounting and analytical duties as assigned.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and basic financial analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management or financial tools.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
