The Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing the AR and billing cycle, including providing leadership and support as needed in this area. The Accounting Specialist will also assist the AP supervisor with day‑to‑day processing of accounts payable invoices, check runs, reconciliations and other support as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation, tax calculation and approval timely and accurately prior to payment.
  • Provide leadership support to AP/AR Specialists.
  • Code items such as invoices, expense reports, check requests, etc., with correct codes conforming to standard procedures to ensure proper entry into the financial system.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP, and provide support during the financial audit.
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing invoices and purchase orders.
  • Follow up on approval of all paper‑based and electronic open invoices to be paid in a timely manner.
  • Generate and distribute invoices and statements to customers in a timely manner.
  • Collect, verify, and record customer payments.
  • Regularly review aging reports to identify accounts that are at risk for delayed or non‑payment.
  • Work with vendors and customers, and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure all relevant data has been captured in the appropriate time.
  • Research, track, and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies to update and maintain account information.
  • Assist the accounting team with month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end tasks.
  • Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non‑disclosure.
  • Assist with the implementation of company policies, standard operating procedures, and performance standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Daily comply with company policies including but not limited to state/local regulation compliance, security protocols, access protocols, dress code, and work schedules.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
