Hours per week: Full-Time / 40 hours per week

Hourly rate: $26.44 - $28.85 / hour

Job Summary

Working within Safe Nest’s accounting systems and fiscal processes, the Junior Accountant will assist with accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts, month‑end closings, and special projects. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone energetic and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment where you will gain exposure to many facets of the accounting function, and you will contribute to an organization with a worthwhile cause.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable transactions and reconcile vendor accounts, ensuring that invoices are entered timely and accurately.
  • Process semi‑monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Process and reconcile incoming payments including grant income and donations.
  • Work with all relevant accounting, bill payment, and donation platforms and databases.
  • Participate in month‑end reconciliations.
  • Maintain vendor relationships.
  • Review and audit invoices for health insurance and other benefits.
  • Maintain complete and accurate financial files and supporting documentation.
  • Research, track, and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with preparation for the annual financial audit.
  • Perform other clerical and accounting duties as needed or assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred) and/or 2+ years of experience in an accounting environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality in handling monetary and payroll transactions.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

  • Regular attendance during scheduled business hours is expected.
