Junior Staff Accountant (Events & Operations)

This is an hourly, non-exempt role.

Job Summary

We are conducting a search on behalf of a client to identify a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to support accounting operations across event-driven projects. This role plays a key part in managing financial transactions, supporting month-end close, and ensuring accurate financial reporting for multiple engagements.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys working cross-functionally, and can balance multiple priorities effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage financial disbursements including wires, cash requests, and payments related to project or event settlements
  • Review and reconcile financial settlements immediately following project completion
  • Prepare project/event profit & loss (P&L) statements and related journal entries
  • Monitor financial reports for accuracy and reasonableness
  • Ensure timely closure and reconciliation of projects within established timelines
  • Track and process receivables, payables, and collections to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain general ledger (G/L) activity for assigned projects
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet accounts and reconciliations
  • Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end close process
  • Assist with financial reporting, audits, and ad hoc projects as needed
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with project-based or operational accounting preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (advanced Excel strongly preferred)
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle or similar) is a plus
  • Project management experience is a plus

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project or on-site support
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends during peak periods such as month-end close
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and follow through on multiple deadlines
