Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a growing real estate and property management organization in Las Vegas, Nevada. This newly added role offers the opportunity to become an important contributor on a well-established accounting team that values thoughtful collaboration, high standards, and long-term success. Responsibilities:

- Produce monthly and annual financial reports for assigned associations, ensuring statements and supporting schedules are completed accurately and on schedule.

- Review account activity, explain budget-to-actual variances, and communicate financial insights to community managers and board representatives.

- Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and intercompany activity while maintaining accurate general ledger records.

- Lead month-end and year-end close activities by verifying transactions, reconciling balances, and confirming timely completion of all required entries.

- Complete detailed reconciliations for bank, reserve, operating, receivable, payable, deferred revenue, and other balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.

- Assist with audit and tax preparation by assembling work papers, schedules, and supporting documentation and responding to requests from external partners.

- Help maintain compliance with HOA-related financial guidelines, internal policies, and applicable state requirements.

- Partner with community management and other internal teams to address billing questions, investigate financial issues, and improve day-to-day accounting processes.

- Support the onboarding of new association clients by setting up chart of accounts structures, establishing opening balances, and integrating them into reporting workflows. Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.

- Minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; HOA, property management, or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.

- Demonstrated proficiency in financial statement preparation, general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.

- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Village Management System or similar platform).

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling).

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- High degree of accuracy and strong analytical problem-solving skills.

- Ability to manage multiple client portfolios simultaneously and meet recurring deadlines.
