About Us

The Just One Project's mission is to increase access to food, resources, and supportive services to build a stronger, healthier, and more connected community. The Just One Project has a culture of attracting the most passionate and talented people to represent The Just One Project by reinforcing strong values, work-life balance, and diversity. We know that our company culture ultimately affects client experience.

Every program is designed with our clients in mind; we are "client-centric."

Everything we do is guided by our core values:
Respect, Integrity, Innovation, and Compassion, and by our Gold Standard of service. We believe every person who walks through our doors deserves to be treated with the same care, dignity, and respect as you'd want for your own family.

Behind every program, delivery, partnership, and community initiative is a financial operation that makes the work possible. Strong financial leadership allows us to responsibly steward our resources, meet our commitments to funders and partners, and continue growing our impact throughout the community.

We're looking for a finance leader who understands that the numbers matter - and so does the mission behind them.

About the Role

As the Director of Finance, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of The Just One Project's Finance Department and play a key role in protecting the financial health and integrity of the organization.

Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of Revenue, you'll oversee our accounting operations, financial systems, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, month-end close, grant and restricted-fund accounting, internal controls, compliance, and Finance Department team.

This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who can move comfortably between the big picture and the details. One moment you may be reviewing financial controls or grant allocations, and the next you're helping your team resolve a reconciliation issue, strengthening a workflow, or preparing documentation for an audit.

We're looking for someone who brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound professional judgment, and thoughtful leadership to the table. You'll be trusted to identify risks, improve processes, maintain high standards of accuracy and accountability, and build systems that help the Finance Department - and the organization as a whole - operate effectively.

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Evening, weekend, event-based, or on-call work may occasionally be required based on operational needs.

  • Serve as a technical resource for the Finance team on accounting practices, financial procedures, documentation, and compliance.
  • Develop and strengthen financial procedures, workflows, documentation standards, and internal controls.

  • Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for Quick Books Online, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's general ledger.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, adjustments, discrepancy resolution, and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee the accurate recording and classification of deposits, expenses, bills, receivables, transfers, and other financial transactions.
  • Manage accounting structures within Quick Books, including Projects and Classes, to appropriately track programs, grants, departments, funding sources, and restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor workflows, payments, collections, coding, documentation, and revenue recording.
  • Review vendor bills and documentation and support accurate and timely 1099 reporting.
  • Oversee bank deposits, withdrawals, transfers, ACH/EFT activity, and related cash-management processes.
  • Ensure expenses, payroll, revenue, and other financial activity are appropriately allocated across programs, grants, departments, and funding sources.
  • Oversee grant and restricted-fund accounting, including cost allocations, reconciliations, supporting documentation, and reimbursement readiness.
  • Partner with the Senior Executive Director of Revenue on monthly grant reconciliations and Request for Reimbursement (RFR) preparation and review.
  • Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready records for grants, contributions, in-kind donations, restricted funds, and reimbursement requests.
  • Oversee payroll processing, reconciliation, financial controls, payroll entries, and grant and program allocations.
