Project Accountant

Description

We are looking for a Project Accountant to support design and construction accounting activities for a hospitality organization in Las Vegas, Nevada. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed invoice processing, collaborates well with project and construction teams, and can work independently in a fast-paced environment. The role focuses on construction-related payables, month-end accounting tasks, and financial tracking across active projects while helping maintain accurate records and timely payments.

The Project Accountant will work on-site 5x days a week.

Responsibilities for the Project Accountant:

- Review construction and project-related invoices received through a shared mailbox and track them accurately in Excel.

- Coordinate with project managers and construction stakeholders to confirm receipt of goods or completion of services before payment processing.

- Apply the correct project and accounting codes to invoices and route approved items to accounts payable for disbursement.

- Prepare month-end accruals by analyzing open invoices and recording expenses in the appropriate accounting period.

- Complete general ledger reconciliations and investigate variances to support accurate financial reporting.

- Create journal entries tied to FF& E purchasing activity and summarize high-volume invoice data from third-party vendor reports.

- Maintain organized supporting documentation for invoice approvals, reconciliations, and journal postings.

- Partner with internal teams to support accounting activity related to construction projects, fixed assets, and financial close processes.

- Use systems such as Oracle Projects, Oracle Fixed Assets, Oracle GL, and Procore to manage and document project accounting activity.

Requirements - Experience in accounts payable, project accounting, or construction accounting environments.

- Working knowledge of invoice coding, accrual preparation, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

- Familiarity with general ledger processes and month-end close support.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking invoices, organizing data, and working with large spreadsheets.

- Ability to communicate confidently with project managers, construction personnel, and accounting teams.

- Self-directed work style with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage repetitive, high-volume tasks.

- Experience with Oracle Projects, Oracle Fixed Assets, Oracle GL, or Procore is preferred.

- A degree is not required; relevant hands-on accounting experience is valued.
