POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Director of General Ledger is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely GAAP accounting at Fontainebleau Las Vegas (“the Company”). In addition to the Assistant Director’s key role within the Accounting team responsible for the Company’s day-to-day operations, the Assistant Director will be directly in charge of the GAAP accounting and financial reporting.

The Assistant Director provides leadership and direction to the General Ledger team as well guidance on all financial reporting matters for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Own processes necessary to generate accurate and timely monthly financial statements and manage the month-end close process
  • Review journal entries and maintain balance sheet schedules and ledgers
  • Hold self and team members to a high standards for GAAP accounting, month-end close, monthly account reconciliations, and other accounting processes and procedures
  • Prepare internal reporting package, including variance analysis and summary of financial results
  • Lead projects or analyses assigned by Accounting and/or Finance Leadership
  • Evaluate, revise (as necessary), and enforce internal accounting control standards and procedures
  • Work with other Accounting team members to prepare reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Provide leadership on financing transactions, and partner with all of the accounting team to resolve all GAAP and technical accounting issues

  • Communicate problems or discrepancies to management in a timely and efficient manner
  • Manage personnel responsibilities to include quality hiring and training, staff motivation, feedback and development, promotions, discipline, etc.
  • Ensure that required licensing is maintained & updated
  • Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting
  • Five (5) years of experience in accounting preferably for a large-scale luxury resort/casino, with at least two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Strong grasp of U.S. GAAP accounting, General Ledger practices, and protocol required
  • Ability to work collaboratively across various capabilities within the organization to drive consistent and efficient accounting processes
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite or Office 365; that includes Advanced Excel skills (spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, graphs, data manipulation/analysis and formula creation).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing work situations and environments.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
  • Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of Company and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction contributing to the success of the organization through engaging, developing, and mentoring individuals and teams
  • Able to lead and mentor a team
  • Excellent organizational skills; be able to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include occasional evenings and weekends
  • Work in a fast-paced environment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises positions in the Accounting Department.
