The Role

This externship offers hands‑on training in an estate planning law firm, providing exposure to core legal assistant and paralegal functions. The extern will work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff while gaining experience in estate planning, scheduling, administrative operations, quality assurance, customer service, funding, and more.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist with drafting, proofreading, and organizing estate planning documents
  • Support case management, file organization, and document preparation
  • Schedule client meetings, maintain calendars, and coordinate appointments
  • Perform administrative tasks including scanning, filing, data entry, and correspondence
  • Review client information for accuracy and participate in quality assurance processes
  • Support client intake and provide customer service throughout the client experience
  • Assist the funding department with asset documentation, tracking, and follow‑up
  • Collaborate with attorneys and staff on special projects and workflow improvements
Communication / Client Contact

This position provides extensive contact with clients, staff, professional advisors, and vendors. All interactions should be handled professionally, whether inside or outside the office, by telephone, email, or in person. The extern must maintain confidentiality, demonstrate discretion, and uphold the Firm’s standards of exceptional client service.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow established procedures
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and digital file systems
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Education and/or Experience
  • Currently enrolled in a Legal Assistant, Paralegal Studies, Pre‑Law, or related academic program
  • Prior office or administrative experience is a plus but not required
  • Interest in estate planning, probate, or transactional law preferred
