American Indian Consultation Program Assistant
This position will support the American Indian Consultation Program (AICP). Key responsibilities will include assisting the AICP program manager and coordinator with scheduling and facilitating AICP activities, including consultations under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), quarterly subcommittee meetings, semi-annual field visits, and an annual multi-day meeting. The AICP Assistant will complete tasks related to event planning, correspondence tracking, scheduling, writing, editing, workshop/meeting setup, field visit logistics, and the like.
The Assistant may also assist with data entry, electronic filing, and other office tasks.
- Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university.
- Event planning experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and Adobe programs.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to participate in field visits to remote locations in varying weather conditions.
- Education or training in Indigenous Studies, Archaeology, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and/or National Historic Preservation Act.
- Experience working with tribes in the Mojave Desert/Great Basin region.
- Experience working within the Nevada System of Higher Education.
- Document editing experience.
- ArcGIS Pro experience.
The position is part-time and onsite, averaging a minimum of 18 hours per week. Days and times are negotiable. During workshops and field visits, the hours will be higher based on program needs.
Pay range is $22-$25/hour, negotiable depending on experience.
Desired start date is 9/1/2026.
The position is temporary with the potential to become regular through the normal recruitment process.
Conditions of Employment
- This position is contingent upon available funding for the AICP program and may be terminated for lack of funding or performance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to project funding requirements.
