Job Opportunity
The Nevada System of Higher Education, Las Vegas System Administration, Chancellor's Office is seeking a customer service oriented student employee to provide front desk clerical and reception support.
The duties of the position include working at the front desk, answering phones, greeting and assisting office visitors, and running office errands. The position will also provide administrative support to the office staff and other ad hoc duties.
It is important for the student employee to be dependable and possess strong communication skills and customer service abilities; the ability to resolve issues and work with employees and customers from a variety of backgrounds. The ability to maintain confidentiality is of critical importance to this position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is preferred.
Required Qualifications:
- Current student at any NSHE institution in Las Vegas with 6 credits per semester
- Ability to work independently, take the initiative, be reliable, and seek help when needed.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Commitment to confidentiality
- A competent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Good communication and customer service skills as they will frequently be communicating with NSHE community partners and constituents
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about NSHE governance
- Strong customer service and writing skills
- Some knowledge or experience with office management and event organization
- This position is available immediately and the applicant must commit to working through Spring 2023 when hired
$10.50/hr starting
Hours per week will be granted based on student's schedule and department's needs. Working during summer and winter break is necessary. Schedules that allow for working hours between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. or noon, Monday through Friday (at least four (4) days per week) are preferred at this time.
A background check will be conducted on the candidate(s) selected for hire.
