Position Description

Provide leadership support for the direction and execution of the daily operations of the Learning Experiences team. This position will support the execution of tactical plans regarding visitor experience, revenue‑generating programs and workshops, educational programming, community engagement experiences, community partnerships, maintenance of galleries and museum spaces, and exhibit component translation, while creating a mission‑oriented environment with excellent customer service and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • 45% Assists in maintaining efficiency and efficacy of museum galleries.
    • Facilitates field trip orientation and process management.
    • Provides volunteer/staff support during field trip orientation.
    • Serves as a daily floater on the Learning Experiences team, supporting Presenters in performing gallery duties during high volume visitor times.
    • Utilizes the radio to communicate appropriately and effectively monitor gallery operations.
    • Supports the time management and execution of daily gallery programming.
    • Supervises the execution of daily gallery programming.
    • Responsible for time management of daily staff breaks.
    • Responsible for upholding museum standards of gallery maintenance, cleanliness and organization of galleries and museum spaces.
    • Responsible for maintaining gallery showcase displays.
    • Supports the management of daily gallery operations.
  • 30% Supports programming development, facilitation and reporting.
    • Provides support in the areas of programming development and facilitation, supply preparation, and staffing support, as assigned.
    • Responsible for creating weekly gallery programming signage.
    • Responsible for recording gallery programming attendance and program surveys for grant reporting, as assigned.
    • Supports the preparation and setup of gallery materials for weekly and quarterly programs.
    • Supports volunteers in museum galleries.
    • Responsible for modeling and upholding museum standards of visitor engagement, gallery programming, and professional conduct.
  • 20% Supports the preparation and execution of special programming, including sponsored events and attendance driving events.
    • Prepares and executes customized programming.
    • Maintains and communicates inventory of special programming supplies.
    • Supports preparation of supplies and supply/special event setup.
    • Serve as POC for artists in residence and supports scheduling, setup and workshop support, as assigned.
    • Prepares customized gallery and programming signage.
    • Supports the preparation and facilitation of museum workshops.
    • Supports the preparation and execution of summer camps.
    • Supports the facilitation of museum community outreach.
  • 5% Assists in the management of supplies.
    • Maintains the inventory of gallery and programming supplies.
    • Prepares and submits supply needs for gallery and programming supplies.
    • Processes inventory deliveries and stores supplies in an organized manner.
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Supports the overall functions of the Learning Experiences team.
    • Supports the function and activities of the team and meets all deadlines, as assigned.
    • Attends regularly scheduled meetings as requested by the Arts & Humanities Manager and museum leadership.
    • Works well under supervision and with others to complete projects.
    • Assists in the execution of goals and objectives for the Learning Experiences team.
    • Responsible for supporting staff, interns, and volunteers in accomplishing goals and objectives for the Learning Experiences team.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism in performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
    • Bring positive recognition to DISCOVERY Children’s Museum brand through professionalism, enthusiastic attitude and respectful communication.
