Civil Superintendent (West Region) – SOLV Energy
We are seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to oversee project success from SWPPP to project completion on job sites in the West Region (California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada). This full‑time role requires travel within the region.
Responsibilities- Operate and oversee all major types of heavy earthwork equipment.
- Ensure proper maintenance, inspection, repair, and prioritization of equipment.
- Assess operators’ skill levels and support training and certification.
- Perform accurate takeoffs with strong understanding of earthmoving principles.
- Apply surveying, GPS, and engineering knowledge to coordinate work with subcontractors and in‑house crews.
- Identify and resolve challenges in dynamic construction environments.
- Read and interpret civil construction drawings with high accuracy.
- Provide drawing reviews, constructability input, and schedule support.
- Use Microsoft Office, CAD, and other applications for planning, reporting, and documentation.
- Bring experience in underground cable installation and related civil scopes.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage field crews to build effective teams.
- Maintain awareness and compliance regarding erosion control, SWPPP, and environmental requirements.
- Plan, install, and oversee temporary water management systems (tanks, sumps, pumps, piping).
- Perform and review water usage calculations for dewatering plans and temporary utilities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Manage all incoming civil materials.
- Oversee third‑party testing of all civil activities, including sampling.
- Oversee all equipment used within the civil scope.
- Minimum 2 years as an assistant civil superintendent (preferably 6 years of supervisory field construction experience).
- Prefer 3 years in utility‑scale solar projects.
- Thorough knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and OSHA safety standards.
- Strong knowledge of job scheduling, planning, expediting, and cost control.
- Working knowledge of all trades with the ability to read specifications.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, assuming overall responsibility.
- Experience conducting constructability reviews and coordinating with estimating teams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a sense of urgency.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform accurate yardage and tonnage takeoffs.
- Strong understanding of civil construction equipment utilization.
- Valid driver’s license.
