Job Description
We are seeking an early‑career Concrete Estimator to join our Procurement team. This role is ideal for someone with around two years of estimating experience who is ready to continue developing their skills in a fast‑paced commercial construction environment. You’ll support the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for concrete scopes, working on both self‑performed and subcontracted work.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with experienced estimators, operations teams, and subcontractors to review drawings and specifications, develop bid strategies, and build strong trade partner relationships. You’ll gain hands‑on experience in takeoffs, pricing, and risk evaluation while contributing to the success of a wide range of projects.
We’re looking for someone who is detail‑oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to grow—someone who enjoys working as part of a team and is excited to build a long‑term career in construction estimating.

- Read and outline project specifications.
- Discuss and establish bid strategies, concerns, and advantages.
- Work with Estimating Administrators for vendor/subcontractor pricing, bid solicitation, and coordination using Smart Bid.
- Establish, write, and review work scopes for subcontractors.
- Assist with pre‑bid meetings with operations personnel and subcontractors as needed.
- Assist operations staff on project logistics, staging, phasing plans, and coordination when it comes to self‑perform concrete.
- Accurately take‑off as required for CSI Division 3, Concrete.
- Price items of both self‑performed and subcontracted work on a unit‑priced basis.
- Utilize subcontractor and field production data to establish database pricing.
- Improve existing subcontractor relationships and get to know the subcontractors/suppliers.
- Review estimates for accuracy, constructability, and risks.
- Rely on judgment and experience to plan and establish deadlines.
- Assist Estimating Department as needed to facilitate teamwork.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, technology, and programs within the construction field.
- Creativity and innovation required—plan to out‑perform the competition.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an estimator in commercial construction.
- Experience with projects over one million dollars.
- Ability to use strategic and innovative methods to obtain subcontractor coverage for bids, especially in new geographic areas.
- Experience with self‑performance of concrete required.
- Proficiency in scheduling and the following software:
Destini, OST, Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
