Traffic Control Planner

The Traffic Control Planner designs and draws the layout of traffic control measures to maintain safe traffic control around construction sites to keep motorists, pedestrians, and construction workers safe. The Planner also coordinates the crews in placing, removing, and repairing traffic control devices and cover for crew breaks as needed.

Coordinate and schedule crew job tasks. Assist crews ordering and dispatching equipment, material, or supply needs. Verify traffic control technicians follow plan and safety regulations. Implement NPL safety and quality procedures at all times. Perform various tracking and recordkeeping related duties as directed and required by management. Report public and business concerns or issues to supervisors. Other duties as required.

Five years of traffic control experience. ATSSA certification. Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations of traffic control procedures. Knowledge of underground utilities and locator markings. Ability to interact with public, supervisors, and coworkers professionally at all times. Ability to think clearly no matter the stress or difficulty of your circumstances. Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Comprehend and communicate specific directions in English to ensure the safety of all.

Desire to learn and commit to working safely. Detail-oriented and have both strong work ethics and organizational skills. Energetic, have good communication skills and be able to resolve conflict effectively. Complete assignments while working under tight deadlines and with minimal or no supervision.

Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions. All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English. Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling. Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice. Work is performed within the "red zone" of heavy equipment.

Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination.
