Terra Contracting, Inc. is a growing underground utility contractor specializing in the installation, repair, and maintenance of critical underground infrastructure throughout Southern Nevada.
Our crews support projects involving fiber optic, natural gas, and power utilities
, working within public rights-of-way and active construction environments.
We are seeking an experienced Underground Utility Foreman to lead field crews and oversee the day-to-day execution of underground utility projects. The Foreman is responsible for directing crews, maintaining safe and productive jobsites, coordinating with inspectors and project leadership, and ensuring work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and Terra standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader who understands underground utility construction, can make sound decisions in the field, and knows how to hold a crew accountable while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, direct, and supervise underground utility construction crews.
- Plan and coordinate daily crew activities to meet production and project schedules.
- Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.
- Coordinate directly with utility inspectors, third-party inspectors, Project Managers, Superintendents, and other project personnel.
- Monitor jobsite progress, production, workmanship, and quality.
- Conduct quality-control checks to verify accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Read and interpret construction plans, utility drawings, specifications, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Identify field issues and provide practical solutions and technical guidance to crew members.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment needed to complete daily work.
- Ensure proper installation, repair, restoration, and completion of underground utility work.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, production information, and as-built information when required.
- Communicate changes, delays, safety concerns, and other project issues to the appropriate project leadership.
- Train, coach, and mentor crew members while promoting safe and productive work practices.
- Ensure company procedures and Foreman standards are consistently followed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and quality.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required
- Previous experience leading crews in underground utility, civil, or related construction.
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct field crews.
- Valid Nevada driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding construction activities.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Experience with fiber optic, natural gas, electrical, or other underground utility construction

- Experience coordinating with utility owners and third-party inspectors.
- Experience with underground utility restoration.
- Experience preparing or reviewing as-built documentation
. - Experience operating construction equipment.
- Previous Foreman experience in a utility or civil construction environment.
