The Las Vegas Sun is seeking an aggressive and enterprising reporter to lead our coverage of politics and elections.

It’s a great time to be at the forefront of reporting on politics in Nevada, where the outcome of the 2026 midterm election stakes are high in municipal, state and congressional races.

There’s no shortage of news on the campaign trail, bringing a need for a reporter who is fast on their feet and capable of telling stories of impact.

We want a storyteller who enjoys breaking down complex issues for consumption. Our ideal candidate can break news and then drill down on the topic to provide depth and analysis.

Your reporting will also focus on policy proposals involving health care, education, the environment and more.

• Identify and produce compelling stories independently.
• Write long‑form narratives as well as break news with speed and accuracy.
• Produce daily coverage and mid‑ and longer‑range enterprise stories.
• Provide depth and analysis on policy proposals in health care, education, the environment, and related areas.
