Position: Disease Investigation and Intervention Specialist I

Overview

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Disease Investigation and Intervention Specialist I in the Department of Disease Surveillance. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to four (4) months in the Department of Disease Surveillance.

Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting with duties related to the investigation, identification, surveillance, and prevention of communicable diseases; provides health education on disease prevention and control; conducts professional interaction with healthcare providers and the public on disease related issues; and performs related duties as assigned.

Funding

This position is funded by a grant and the continuation of the position depends on the availability of grant funds and the business requirements of SNHD. If the funding is discontinued or becomes unavailable, your employment may be terminated without the right to appeal.

Minimum Qualifications

Disease Investigation and Intervention Specialist I

Education, Training, And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in biological sciences, epidemiology, or a closely related physical science field; OR an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.

License Or Certificate

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Nevada Driver’s license.
