Description
The Interior Design Librarian plays a vital role in supporting the Interior Design Team. This position is responsible for fostering strong collaboration and ensuring seamless operations by maintaining a high level of customer service for both internal and external stakeholders, including team members, vendors, and trade partners. With a focus on efficiency and organization, the Interior Design Librarian will assist in managing resources, facilitating communication, and streamlining design library related processes.
Additionally, this role will provide essential support to Interior Design Leadership, contributing to ongoing initiatives that enhance the team's productivity and effectiveness.
- Curate, organize, and maintain the interior design library, including materials, finishes, textiles, wall coverings, fabrics and binders.
- Source, research, and present new materials, products, and vendors aligned with luxury residential and Blue Heron standards.
- Participate in in-person vendor meetings and maintain the ability to travel to local showrooms to source and pick up materials as needed; attend relevant trade shows and industry events to stay current on materials, products, and design trends in support of the Interior Design team.
- Manage relationships with vendor representatives, showrooms, and manufacturers, coordinate presentations, samples, and updates.
- Maintain accurate records of samples, specifications, and pricing workbooks.
- Ensure materials library is current, organized, and visually aligned with the Blue Heron’s brand and design aesthetic.
- Support design teams by providing material recommendations, alternates, and sourcing solutions that meet design, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Track sample check-outs, returns, and inventory to ensure availability and condition.
- Coordinate sample procurement, storage, and disposal, including large-format or custom materials with vendors.
- Organize and schedule educational vendor presentations and “lunch and learn” sessions ensuring valuable engagement opportunities for the interior design team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of interior design experience in luxury residential or luxury hospitality.
- Strong knowledge of luxury materials, finishes, and performance requirements.
- Excellent organizational and inventory management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and vendor coordination abilities.
- Experience with material libraries.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize project workload, time-sensitive tasks, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- Routine use of Microsoft Office Suite.
