Blue Heron Companies seeks an Architectural Design Manager to lead design for commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities in the Pacific Northwest. In this role, you will oversee the full architectural design process-from concept and schematic development through construction documents-within a collaborative design-build environment. You will coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure constructible, code-compliant solutions that reflect our focus on quality, safety, and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities include managing client design meetings, mentoring design staff, standardizing details and processes, and supporting construction administration and site visits. This position offers the opportunity to shape impactful facilities while working in a tight-knit, professional team committed to integrity, service, and long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design for commercial, industrial, and agricultural projects from concept to construction documents
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams in a design-build environment
  • Oversee code compliance, permitting, and technical quality of drawings and specifications
  • Manage client design meetings, gather requirements, and present design solutions
  • Supervise and mentor design staff, delegating work and reviewing deliverables
  • Develop and refine standards, details, and workflows to improve design quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate on project schedules, budgets, and value-engineering options
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and support construction administration
