The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor-in-Residence of English, UNLV Honors College [R0149187]
ROLE of the POSITION
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track (NTT), Assistant Professor-in-Residence of English in the Honors College. At UNLV, the "in-Residence" label refers to teaching positions with a service component but no research requirement. The position is promo table through traditional rank. It is not a visiting position. The successful candidate will be employed as a member of the Honors College
-not the English Department. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026.
We invite candidates with significant teaching experience in English and writing to teach for the Honors College. The teaching load will include first-year writing/rhetoric classes, second-year writing-intensive seminars, upper division Honors seminars, and service-learning classes. The successful candidate will be expected to teach four Honors courses (12 credits) per semester to high-achieving students with enrollment caps ranging from 16-24 students. The majority of Honors College courses are in person although there are online and hybrid courses offered.
The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with Honors College faculty, mentor undergraduate students, supervise Honors research thesis projects, and participate in appropriate levels of service to the college, university, and community.
PROFILE of the HONORS COLLEGE
The Honors College at UNLV is a small, selective college within the university that offers an exceptional undergraduate core experience for highly motivated students. The Honors College provides students with a liberal arts experience in addition to their academic majors. The combination of a central Honors intellectual core and specialized learning in a major discipline helps develop graduates who are fully prepared to succeed in graduate and professional schools and in rewarding careers.
The Honors College at UNLV currently has
10 faculty-in-residence specializing in a variety of disciplines and approximately 1,200 students. Class sizes range from 16-24 students to ensure a small, dynamic learning experience and a relationship-rich experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Ph.D. in English or M.F.A. in Creative Writing from a regionally accredited college or university. The degree must be awarded prior to the start of employment.
Applicants must demonstrate a proven record of transformative teaching that includes significant experience teaching lower and upper division writing-intensive courses. Candidates should also demonstrate their commitment and ability to teach service-learning courses and to engage in service at the student, college, university, and community level.

Candidates are invited to highlight any experience studying or working in an Honors environment and teaching service-learning and online courses. Candidates are also encouraged to emphasize innovative teaching methods or course design.
