The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music, UNLV College of Fine Arts [R0149839]

ROLE of the POSITION

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Music invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Applied Oboe at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2026. Primary responsibilities include teaching and maintaining an undergraduate and graduate studio in applied oboe, teaching studio and reed-making classes, coaching woodwind ensembles, performing chamber music in faculty ensembles, recruitment, and serving as a visible resource to Las Vegas's music and music education communities.

Candidates with ancillary expertise in musicology, music theory, or other disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. Additional expectations will include research and/or creative activity and service on Departmental, College, and University committees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires an earned terminal degree in oboe performance or equivalent field. Applicants with ABD status nearing degree conferral will be considered, but an earned D.M.A. or D.M. in oboe performance is required at the time of the appointment. Candidates should have a record of successful teaching and recruiting of oboe students at the collegiate level and of performance at regional and national levels.

Candidates should be actively involved in professional double-reed organizations and maintain an active schedule of performances and scholarly activities.
