POSITION SUMMARY:

The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for a Teacher's Assistant. You will implement the day-to-day programming of the 21st Century Learning Center. You will be responsible for instruction using the Bell Xcel program curriculum, as well as homework assistance, academic enrichment and family engagement events. The program runs from 2:45pm-6:00pm, Monday-Thursday. ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
Research shows that young people from underserved and low-income families often start school underprepared and fall behind their peers as a result, creating an opportunity gap. Through focused programming and support, the Y is committed to closing this gap. The Power Scholars program uses evidence based curriculum and licensed teachers to support students' educational readiness, engagement and outcomes, and emotional and physical development while also providing after school childcare at no cost to students or families.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures proper implementation of the YMCA of Southern Nevada's Youth Development policies and procedures Works closely with supervisors, school administration, parents, and teachers to develop strategies for student success Ensures activities are delivered as intended under the approved funding application Works well with small groups and/or individual scholars Ensure the academic and social development of scholars throughout the course of the program Performs all other duties as assigned ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children.

Attend required abuse risk management training. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities. END RESULT:
Provide safe, secure and educational programs at the after school site. Impact the overall effectiveness of the association's implementation of the YMCA mission through youth development.
