Experience with collaborative groups and processes in a student-centered environment.
To obtain the Paraprofessional license valid for 5 years (age 18+ limited to pre-K–8): one of the following required:
- Associate degree or higher
- 60 semester hours of coursework
- High School Diploma or GED with a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
- High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys:
Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (score
4);
Reading for information/Workplace Documents (score
4)
To obtain a Short-Term Paraprofessional license valid for 3 years:
- High school diploma (or equivalent) or higher
- While working on the approval, educator must be fulfilling requirements for the full license
This employee is responsible for assisting students in feeding, health needs, mobility, personal hygiene, and monitoring self-control. The employee may also be asked to reinforce skills introduced by the teacher by working individually with a student or with a small group. Additionally, the employee will supervise/assist students during arrival and dismissal, prepare classroom materials for instruction, and perform other job-related tasks assigned by the teacher/supervisor.
